Stop the world; I want to get off.

Yes, I would certainly like to leave the US, at least for the remainder of Donald Trump's term. I don't feel comfortable living here in W Va. among so many Trump supporters, including my own son. But is any place else really better? I am now 87 and not exactly wealthy, though certainly I could live well in Honduras, my former Peace Corps country. With almost 4 more years remaining in the Trump presidency, I'd really like to consider leaving, even though that would mean missing family members living here.  

I just sent this message out to an American friend my age, who like me, has been involved in charitable and humanitarian work for many years in Honduras. 

Glad to hear from you. So we are both among the living for now at age 87. Let's see how long we can go on. Will we survive the Trump presidency? We should check in with each other periodically. Say hello to your Honduran family for me. You folks have been through quite a lot together. I have good friends in southern Honduras in both Choluteca and El Triunfo where I could stay, but now my passport has expired and I'm not sure I'll be going back. 

Even here in little Berkeley Springs, W Va., pure Trump country, there will be an anti-Trump demonstration on his birthday.

I'd been feeling uneasy about using gmail, where my blog is posted because of some problems posting it. Then on Yahoo, I got the following message:

So what does that mean? What issues? If anyone can advise me, that would be most helpful. The blog
finally did get posted, but readers' advice is still welcome. As far as I know, blogs can only be posted on Gmail. 

After about week away from the computer due to a recurrent pain in my right hand and wrist, first noticed right after moving to W. Va., it now appears not to be psychosomatic after all, rather due to an injury inside my wrist that may never be fixed, though an injection in my upper arm provided partial temporary relief and has allowed me to again write on the computer. I also plan a soak in the town hot springs.

While I was looking out the front window here early one morning, a lone doe came out, then darted around, searching for her sisters, before disappearing 

Here below are the old bathhouses connected to natural mineral hot springs that have given Berkeley Springs its name and fame. George Washington bathed in its famous curative waters.

                      We always drive past the house below when taking the dog out for a run in the early morning. Like many homes in the area, it features a stone-like façade pasted over wood construction. Other homes have pasted brick. Only in state parks have we seen reconstructed actual stone, brick, or log houses.

Another interpretation request came in to me recently. But I could hardly accept it, especially now, after having moved to W Va. (Not much demand for Spanish interpretation here in W Va.) You are requested to indicate your availability for an onsite consecutive interpretation session from English to Spanish for a business meeting in Washington, District of Columbia on June 09, 2025, from 01:00 PM - 03:00 PM EDT.

Are Musk and Trump still feuding or is it all just a big publicity stunt designed to grab headlines? 

Musk said in a June 5 post on X, "Time to drop the really big bomb. 

@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!"

Since Trump is now the US president, he can probably keep the Epstein files and any other such disclosures from being released, at least while he remains in office. 
                                        And Trump may also sell off the red Tesla that he got only recently.

                                

                                        But history is unlikely to treat Donald J. Trump very kindly.

Meanwhile, ICE raids and public opposition to them are spreading. We really need those foreign workers right here in the USA and they really need our jobs.  

                   Anti-ICE demonstrations have spread throughout the US. Above is one in Seattle.

                         Here is another in Chicago. It's become a battle of the people against ICE.

There was even an anti-ICE demonstration here in little Berkeley Springs. If anti-Trump

demonstrations are occurring right here in the heartland, you know the president is in trouble.

Now that Mr. Trump has found out about worker shortages, some even on his own properties, might he start easing up somewhat on deportations? People come to this country to find jobs. You and I and other ordinary citizens could have told Mr. Trump what the consequences would be of aggressive deportations, but that man doesn't even have ordinary common sense.

Of births worldwide, about 105 are boys compared to 100 girls. Of those under age 50, 50.3 are male, 47.7 female. But after age 50, women begin to predominate in the world. 

In the US out of total population of 38.7 million, 49.5 % are male and 50.5% are female. In many cultures, males are valued more than females, true even to an extent here in our own country. After age 60, American women begin to outnumber men. By age 100, there are 3 surviving American women for every man that age.  

 

Looking at the ethnic makeup of Berkeley Springs where we are living now, at the last census, the town

 was 96.5% White, 0.5% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 1.0% from

 other races, and 1.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.7% of the

 population, which includes my son Jon. 

  

There are 11,929 residents in Berkeley Springs, with a median age of 49. Of this, 48 % are males and 

52 %are females. Some 97.35% are US born. Jon was born in Colombia.

This population is older than the US average of 39. 

Son Jon, age 51, is a man interested in women and married twice with a son by each wife.

He is working now at a hotel front desk, with ample opportunity to meet women, many of whom seem

 quite interested in him.

On a recent evening he took me along when he went to pick up a lady friend who is a smoker. 

She sat in the front seat, while I sat behind with the dog. She kept talking a mile a minute while 

smoke wafted my way. The choice is not mine to make, but I hope he doesn't choose to stay with her.
