Meanwhile, the blog seems to work best with shorter and more frequent posts. A longer time lapse means that an initial posting may mysteriously morph into something slightly different, despite having received no input whatsoever from me. And corrections and additions already made too often fail to take hold overnight, sometimes bouncing back to the very first draft. Yes, as I've already said, the blog gods are completely in charge here, often acting in inscrutible and capricious ways. I always try to discern their wishes and to fully cooperate, mostly via trial and error, but too often they fail to cooperate with me.

Stephen in Nigeria, who once stayed at my home in DC, has a wife and 4 kids whom I've never met in person, though we have often communicated via the internet, so I do feel I know them all.

Alliances, mores, and habits can and do change with changing cicumstances. Being child-free is no longer fashionable, as planet earth and humankind could actually use some more people, especially babies. Now, instead of birth control, birth incentives are being offered, including baby bonuses and free child care, as in Scandanavia.
As usual, Donald Trump makes himself newsworthy in a negative fashion, this time by being frankly vindictive toward a state that did not vote for him in the presidential election. (Trump voters, do you still support your guy? )
Has Israel, a nation founded by victims of genocide, now actually turned perpetrator, committing a new genocide against Palestinians? Israel, with continued US moral and financial support, seems now to have embarked on a military campaign designed to eliminate Palestinians of all ages from a swath of disputed territory, perhaps with the aim of having Israel expand into and occupy that same territory. Israel omay be on a campaign of revenge, though not necessarily attacking those actually responsible for the earlier genocide against Jews. Palestinians may have now become handy scapegoats when Nazis are no longer available. Israel must stop this right now!

In any case, the wanton killing of people of all ages, including babies and children in Gaza, must stop! I am raising my voice here as only one person, but no one is more than just one person. Each of us has only one life to contribute to humankind as best we can.

So we each must try to make a maximum impact during our brief sojourn here on earth. Reach out to others, help them as much as possible, express your opinion and listen to theirs, and never condone violence. There will always be bad actors whom we must counteract.
The American people are now realizing that returning Donald Trump in the presidency was a big mistake, something that the world must now try to remedy immeidately. Trump is losing support both nationally and worldwide and even among his own officials, who are compensating as best they can.
In the past, Mr. Trump has sometimes been a compelling and attention-getting speaker, but he is now losing credibility and promoting counterproductive actions, such as in Brazil most recently, where he was burned in effigy. . The price of coffee here will rise as the result of his thoughtless intervention. He doesn't understand even the basics of tariffs and trade.
Unfortunately, the president, apparently suffering from dementia, is reacting impulsively and thoughtlessly, flalling around wildly, then leaving his staff to try to compensate. All of us become more forgetful with age, but for Trump, the problem seems to be accelerating. Even my Trump-voting son is beginning to realize this, right here in the president's key West Va.stronghold. Some of Trump's political allies are going to start jumping ship. These things tend to snowball and can sometimes shift almost overnight. Donald Trump may already be toast.
