Instead of being green,, the grass here in Berkeley Springs has turned yellow or brown. Does that signal the end of winter or the beginning of spring? Help Wanted and Now Hiring signs are still posted everywhere. Trump's wholesale deportation campaign has greatly increased the demand for workers.
After the first year of this term, what do Americans still think about the president?
YouGov/Economist poll
“Corrupt” was far from the only harsh label respondents attached to the president. Nearly half of adults—46 percent—said they would describe Trump as “cruel,” while 47 percent said that “racist” fit their view of the president. Even more, 50 percent, characterized him as “dangerous.”
On the financial front, Donald Trump has made momentous personal monetary gains since returning to the White House. The president has generated at least $1.4 billion through licensing deals, legal settlements, and cryptocurrency ventures, according to analysis cited by The New York Times.
The New Yorker reported that Trump has made a total of more than $4 billion since his return to the presidency.

The skiers were returning from a three-day trek in California's Sierra Nevada mountains when the avalanche struck. Six were rescued.
I once heard Jackson speak live. That was back when I lived on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, as it was not so hard then to just walk over to join protests and marches. The biggest gathering I ever participated in was Obama's first inauguration.

Based on global and US statistics, individuals born female commit a small minority of all murders, with data indicating that they account for roughly 10% to 15% of total homicide offenders. And they are much more likely to be killed by a male intimate partner than by a stranger. If those female from birthdo do kill, it is often the killing of an abusive partner or an unwanted child.
UNODC data shows globally that 90% of homicide suspects are male, while studies in the US have indicated females commit approximately 14.7% of homicides, mostly of imtimate partners or of their children, the latter often soon after birth.
Mass shooters in the US and Canada have all been born male, whether or not they have been transgender. The birth gender is actually associated with such killings, so that a person born male is more much likely to commit a mass murder whether or not that individual later "transitions" to becoming female by taking female hormones. Testosterone does seem to be a major factor in such killings and those born male produce much more of it, even if they later start taking female hormones. Both genders also produce estrogen, but women usually produce much more estrogen.
Here above another male-to-female trans suspect in a recent Tennesee mass shooting who has now committed suicide. Do you think that person looks like a woman?So-called "female" mass shooters have always been born male. I challenge anyone to name even one mass shooter actually born female. It's just has never happened. Those female at birth may kill an unwanted child or a violent partner, but you cannot name anyone born female who has committed a mass murder.
And why do a fair number of men want to become women? Since men actually have many advantages compared to women, why would they ever want to change their gender? Yet very few women actually try to become men. Basketball star Brittney Griner may seem to be an exception by having a female partner and often dressing as a man. She is also quite tall, 6' 9", though not the tallest woman in the WNBA. But she has always identified as female.
Griner and her female partner welcomed a son apparently conceived with donor sperm. Their son, now about 18 months old, calls Griner "Pops." Griner with her wife.
Google says: Brittney Griner is a woman and uses she/her pronouns; she identifies as female, and it's important to respect her self-identification, which challenges traditional gender norms due to her tall stature and muscular build, but her identity as a woman is clear, and she advocates for inclusivity in sports.

================================== Flummoxed by technology now in collecting my book sale proceeds.
Maybe I need to just give up on collecting my book sale proceeds, as my daughter now advises. Though I am not doing any promotion whatsoever, I probably could get at least several hundred dollars by now, but is it even worth the effort? If a reader has any practical ideas, please let me know. I'm glad folks are still buying and reading my books now after more than 20 years, but sorry it's proving nearly impossible for me to collect my share. If anyone knows a reporter at the Washington Post who might help publicize my plight or anyone at Amazon who might actually help me to collect, please advise. "Elderly author unable to access book sale proceeds."
Here's what my daughter says: Mom, I explained this to you already. The only way to get your book royalties would be to delete your book off of Amazon. Then repost it on Amazon. You would lose all of your reviews and also I do not know how to publish on Amazon. We paid somebody a couple thousand dollars in 2003 to design and structure your book into a Kindle, which was posted there. So your only two choices are to delete your book so it's not available anymore on Amazon or keep it on Amazon and at least people can have it. There's no third alternative because we already went through this with Amazon. Whoever it was who created your account, we don't know her name. We don't know her email and we can no longer get in touch with her. Therefore, in Amazon's view the Kindle account with your book on it is in a different name and we cannot answer any of the questions there, so they recommended deleting it. Everything then must be uploaded again to republish it. Do you understand what I'm telling you?
Maybe the answer is "Win some, lose some," so I should just forget it. This is simply a loss, and certainly not the worst loss I have ever endured. At least folks are still buying and reading my books after more than 20 years. And Amazon is still getting its cut. But as the actual author, I am just not getting mine. Surely there must be a remedy, but what is it? Reader advice is welcome, provided it's really something practical that can help.

Here is a local Capitol Hill ad: Room for rent: $1575 (all utilities and internet included). I could have made some real dough by renting out a room had I stayed living in my old DC neighborhood. I did have several housemates, but they didn't help very much with costs and they also had full use of the house, kitchen, living room, washer and dryer, air conditioning, etc. Most were just visitors from abroad.
That chapter of my life is over now as I sold my DC house and bought the one I live in now with my son here in West Virginia.
