Ladies, If you are a woman like me, especially fond of men, our chances of finding a male partner drastically diminish with each passing birthday. I feel lucky to be living right now with one of those increasingly scarce adult males, my son Jon, age 52. Any older woman now partnered with a rare older man needs to take special care of her guy.
American women begin to outnumber men at age 47. While males outnumber females from birth through age 46, men's higher mortality rates cause the gender balance at that point to flip. Then that gap keeps on widening significantly as the population ages.
Here is the demographic shift by the numbers:
- Age 65 and older: There are roughly 82 men for every 100 women.
- Age 85 and older: Women now outnumber men more drastically, with about 70 men per 100 women.
At age 100, how many American men are there compared to women of the same age?
Based on current demographics, for every 100 American women who reach age 100 or older (centenarians), there are only 30 to 31 American men.

How can everyone be helped to actually live longer, especially men? Can testosterone replacement actually prolong human life?
Pete Hegseth now wants to test testosterone levels in all military service members, both male and female, planning to offer male hormone replacement therapy to those with low testosterone, though doctors have warned that claims of a widespread decline in testosterone are “non-evidence-based and could cause harm.” Hegseth is not a medical doctor, but he thinks he knows more about medicine than doctors do. Perhaps he even has an investment in a company offering testosterone supplements, which could actually do more harm than good. A man consulting his own doctor about supplements was told:“Most men stay on it. Once you’re on external testosterone, your body dials down its own production. If you stop, you’re usually worse off than before you started."
So think about that and don't ever get started with testosterone in the first place, just setting up a continuing dependency that may end up actually causing you harm.
Hegseth remains a serious menace to Americans in so many ways with his half-cocked medical notions, as well as by his continuing threats to Caribbean boaters fishing in international waters. Didn't he also authorize the initial strike that started the Iran war? You and I would actually make better choices if we only were in his position.
The Dunning-Kruger Effect is applied to individuals who overestimate their own competence and remain completely unaware of the mistakes they are making. That certainly seems to describe Pete Hegseth to a T. The guy whom Trump named as his Secretary of War actually has no military experience except his long-ago National Guard duty and certainly has no medical experience at all. With 18 months still left to go in Trump's current term, Trump and Hegseth together could certainly inflict considerable additional harm on our nation and on the entire world. Together, they pose a serious menace. We can't get rid of them both soon enough.
The Iran ceasefire now teeters on the brink.
, Or perhaps the ceasefire is now totally dead after the US collapsed a bridge in Iraq. Why is Trump stll doing this? Does he even know why himself? {Now, what are all these dots all about?}

- Catalan, Italian, Portuguese, and Romanian, he says, all variations on a theme. By knowing only Spanish, I can get the gist of all of them and can communicate--more or less--by actually talking with their speakers in Spanish. But it would be hard to remember exactly how they all differ and to learn each of those languages using proper grammer, so I must salute my friend if he is actually
- doing that. Their similarities may make that even harder.

Let's hope the Vances inspire other Americans to have more babies, as our national birthrate is now falling short of replacement.
