Whew! Trump is already fading now.

The previous post had been cut short because the internet deities were interfering.

In life, there are no rewinds, only flashbacks.
So Donald Trump, your time is up!  You are on a downhill slope.
Is it just my wishful thinking, but doesn't it look like Trump's time in
the spotlight has now run its course? None of us lives forever  None of us is influential
for very long. We may be remembered for a time, then are finally forgotten, as has happened with
most folks who have ever lived. Yet we all have been essential to human life and history.
Without water. there would be no oceans, no rivers, no streams.  Without you and me, without
everyone who has ever lived, there would be no human beings, no history, no future.
"To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven"
 Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 from the Bible.

Is the Peace Corps done for now or just adapting to a changed world?
John Coyne, an author and returned Peace Corps volunteer (Ethiopia 1962–64)
featured now in Peace Corps Worldwide, explores this question in his reflective essay

Saying “Goodbye” to The Peace Corps.
In his piece, Coyne questions whether the agency is becoming history, noting the drop in
volunteer numbers from peaks in the 1960s to lower modern counts, and expressing deep
concern over shifting political priorities and the future viability of the institution. At the same
time, other commentators and community data from congressional budget justifications point
to a gradual post-pandemic rebuilding trajectory for the agency's active volunteer numbers.

The Peace Corps may recover somewhat when Trump is out of office.

Donald Trump has certainly not been supportive of the Peace Corps, nor of many other venerable
American institutions. Trump has just been a wrecking ball, perhaps chosen by the electorate to shake
things up.  Hcertainly has been doing a lot of that.
But once Trump is out of office, perhaps the Peace Corps can be revived with a somewhat updated
mission.  The Peace Corps has always offered American volunteers and folks in developing
countries a chance to get to know and understand each other by living and working together
 dailyJFK's  vision needs to continue.
My own Peace Corps service as a health volunteer in Honduras has allowed me to establish health
projects there ever since and to become an established member of local communities.  Even though I'm
getting older with my hair turning gray, it's nice to be recognized by folks there:  ¡Doña Bárbara! as
well by those where I'm living right now.

Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, is now starting a new semester.

Virginia Tech, where both my late brother and my dad taught classes
at the
School of Architecture, has now just opened the fall semester there amid much celebration and
fanfare. My parents also had a house in Blacksburg that our father had designed and partially
built himself with his own hands and where our mother lived until her death.  Dad had designed a number
of other buildings in town and in the vicinity.  Our family has also funded a fellowship at Tech
to encourage more female architects.

A new species of cat has been discovered in Bolivia.

It's smaller than a house cat, but I won't saymore
because my computer is acting up again,
Hope when my daughter visits from Hawaii that she
can help fix these problems,

I wish I could order this from my older daughter's food service in Florida, but her items never make it
here without creating a huge mess.

In case any readers live in Florida, they should check out her company, Goodness.
The offerings change every week, all homemade by my daughter herself.
