Light at the end of the tunnel

Your time's almost up now Donald J. Trump.  JD Vance is quite right, there was no need to attack Iran just out of the blue, which certainly was a mistake.  Vance is now distancing himself from that particular decision, as he may have future plans of his own.  Netanyahu had urged the attack simply to delay his own corruption trial, then his trial actually was delayed, so that objective was accomplished, but at a considerable cost to all sides.

And someone had suggested that Pete Hegseth (maybe that was Hegseth himself?) should take a vacant Senate seat now open in Tennessee, as Pete needs to line up a new gig.  "Senator Pete Hegseth" sounds pretty good.
Perish the thought!  Hegseth is already way out of his depth.  Yet once the Trump administration ends, he won't even be able to be named as a dogcatcher.

It may take a couple of years to erase or at least to reduce the impact of Trumpism, but the process has already begun.  Nothing is limitless and no leader's influence lasts forever.  Even dictators and kings find their grip getting harder to maintain, sometimes actually leading to a overthrow.

Americans and others around the world are already anticipating the end of  Donald Trump's reign.  New leaders are starting to emerge.  Once that process starts, it's rather hard to reverse.  Even Trump himself may be unaware of his waning influence.  He's had a pretty good run, something that looked quite unlikely when he first came down that escalator years ago, announcing his presidential candidacy.  Even Trump has been surprised by his own success. He's had many lucky breaks, but those are all over now.

Here's the title of a recent NY Times bestseller: The Counterrevolution: The Fall and Rise of Donald Trump and the MAGA Movement

If people are still reading this book, they are apt to agree that Trump rose despite all the odds.  However, now something counter to the counterrevolution is already underway.

Yes, Donald Trump has certainly had his allotted 15 minutes of fame, but those minutes are all over now.

Donald Trump is still ordering tree removal from the DC golf course, since he really doesn't like having so many trees there.  Maybe they cast a shadow or simply obstruct his view.  And, yes, he does plan to stick around DC to keep on interfering with the government even after his presidential term ends, so he really needs that golf course to be cleared.

Wash. Post, Pennsylvania reports 6th measles-associated death

OK now, RFK Jr., just put another notch on your death-toll tracker, as here's another premature death to claim as your own personal responsibility as our nation's very own health czar.  Everyone will die, but thanks to the very harmful, erroneous, misguided misinformation that you have dispersed about vaccines--all quite contrary to medical consensus and expertise-- some folks will die many years sooner than otherwise.  Maybe we should call you "the anti-health czar," for being someone whose medical advice should be followed to actually get sick, then to die much too young.

The guy mainly fueling all that very counter-productive health advice is Trump's own appointee, the anti-health czar, RFK Jr.

So both Hegseth and RFK Jr. are 2 Trump appointees who will be remembered in history as being especially disastrous for the American people,

Here's a prominent West Virginian near my own age who has just died.

The rare Democrat in a family of wealthy Republicans, he served 30 years as senator and helped to bring health insurance to millions of low-income children.

‘Like a bolt from the blue’: Israel’s president shocked by Trump announcing end of aid

Israeli officials have taken US support for granted, always expecting to be first in line for our aid.  Israel is by far the recipient of the largest amount of all US foreign aid.

Trump has declared that Israel is now a thriving country that no longer needs the roughly $4 billion being granted in annual U.S. assistance.  So he says that he will be stopping the aid by the end of the year.

Some Israeli officials hope and believe that Trump's public statement was just something intended to influence the US midterms and that actual negotiations on ending the aid still lie ahead.

Something very weird is happening online this evening, so time to post this now before it vanishes.
