Protests against Trump and Musk have been spreading all over the world due to the global recession triggered by Trump's unwarranted tariffs and other harmful measures. Protesters in Germany carried signs saying, "Shut up Elon, no one voted for you." Americans have become increasingly opposed to the tariffs, but Trump's US fundraising has remained robust as a small handful of donors of substantial means continue with their support, no matter what. Both China and the EU put reciprocal tariffs
on goods going to the US. After their retaliation, the recession went worldwide, making recovery that much harder.
Trump himself seems to enjoy wielding power willynilly, always seeking the center of attention, giving abrupt orders, then contradicting them, causing needless pain and hardship for millions, but still expecting immediate obedience like a medieval potentate. His unpredictable and arbitrary actions now have started even worrying billionaires, as the world economy has continued to tank or to gyrate up and down. Even Donald Trump doesn't seem to know what he might do next or what his next impulse might be.

NY Times,
As stocks continued to slide after markets opened, President Trump is speaking at a $1 million dollar-a-person candlelight dinner.
Trump has declared that tariffs punish foreign manufacturers, but that's completely false, as they actually punish American consumers. We are certainly feeling the pinch. Republican Senator Rand Paul is leading the fight against the tariffs.
PBS, Trump backs down on most tariffs for 90 days but raising rate on Chinese imports to 125%
Mr. Trump finally eased or paused some of his tariffs temporarily. But he is not backing down on his plans to run for a 3rd term. At a Las Vegas rally, Trump suggested serving "not once, but twice... or three or four times." (Whew!) He has pointed to FDR's 4 terms decades ago. Trump once railed against Biden's age, but how old would Trump himself be by the end of a hypothetical 3rd term? By my calculations, he would be 84 at the start, then 88, at the end of a 3rd term, assuming that he even lived that long.
Even I (Barbara), now at age 87, feel far more capable of actually being president than Donald Trump has ever been. His incapacity for properly carrying out the duties of the presidency was already evident in his first term and has only gotten worse with age. Yet voters supported him this time, though not expecting him to become such an erratic dictator. We all are now suffering from the continued uncertainty.
After the nightclub roof collapse in Santo Domingo, I'm recalling many memorable visits there, some mentioned in my books.
In Ukraine, mourners visit a memorial to children killed in the war.
My friends in the tiny remote Kingdom of Bhutan are apparently doing well now with crypto currency and bitcoin mining. Don't ask me how all that works, but I'm glad it's working out for them.
This is the second confirmed measles death in the U.S. in more than a decade. Measles had almost
disappeared in our country 20 years ago. Now among the unvaccinated, there are at least 500 cases of measles, a highly contagious disease.
Here is my recent message to someone whose diabetic family member is confronting foot
issues, after having already lost one foot.
Hope that other foot is not in jeopardy. Please keep me posted.
I've advised my son, who is also diabetic, to pay special attention to his feet.
As I may have already told you, he had an accidental gunshot wound to a foot when he was 11. Another boy dropped
a loaded gun found in a parent's bedside drawer and it went off, shooting my son in the foot.
I've often noted that handguns kept in private homes for so-called protection often end up hurting or killing
occupants.
How many armed intruders actually assault us Americans in our homes? The total number is miniscule.
Most gun deaths actually occur among people who know each other and have some sort of grudge or else
who commit suicide. Accidents with guns being kept at home for "protection" are another major factor in
gun deaths
Firearms are the leading cause of death among American children and teens.
I tried to get back the high chair that my all kids had used after the basement cleaners accidentally
took away, but they had already donated it, not that I need it any more, but it had sentimental value and
looked something like this. Goodbye dear old high chair.
Tiffany Sorto and her husband donated their remaining embryos to three couples,
resulting in two children and one pregnancy so far, making that headline question hard to answer. With
infant adoption in the US now at an all-time low, embryo adoption has become a popular alternative.
Giving birth to a child, even one not genetically related, means that the child is considered to
"belong" more fully to a parent than a child by adoption, one reason why embryo adoption has
become much more common.
I am back once again in my home in DC, hoping to sell it.
So please send any potential buyers my way.
Capitol Hill is a wonderful friendly neighborhood where
I've lived for more than 50 years. I've raised 4 kids and a Cuban foster son here but really no longer
need a 3-story house with 4 working fireplaces. I still love my dear old home, built back in 1895, and
will let it go with great reluctance. I hope to move near my son in W Va.
Just talked by phone with a longtime friend, age 94, living in a nursing home in San Diego. She had lost
her only daughter years ago. So, when my son Andrew died, I went out to see her and she was quite
helpful, though such a loss won't ever go away.
Remember to look out for the pink moon on Sat. night.
