King of the World

Wash. Post, Trump discloses U.S. targeted a third alleged drug boat from Venezuela

Venezuelan boaters dare not go out fishing or try transporting passengers any more for fear that Donald Trump will plunge them down into a watery grave. At least 3 boats were targeted recently by Mr. Trump, as per his specific orders. Those already dead cannot challenge the US president and those still living have retreated in fear. He has become king of the sea, even near Venezuela, so very far from American shores.

The 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), is a comprehensive legal framework governing all aspects of ocean use and resources, including defining maritime zones, regulating navigation, protecting the marine environment, and managing deep-sea resources as a "common heritage of mankind". It provides clear guidelines and rights for nations regarding their territorial waters, exclusive economic zones, and high seas, aiming to maintain order, sustainability, and peaceful relations on the oceans.

Has Mr. Trump ever heard of the Law of the Sea? If so, for him, it might be irrelevant, as he seems to consider himself the final arbiter of all laws anywhere, whether on land or sea. Thus, he simply ignores court orders, laws, and any other mandates. Why should he even concern himself with what others may advise him to do or not to do? Short of arresting the president when he fails to comply with a law or a court order, what else can be done? So far, nothing has been done. He is the US president and considers himself king of the world. No one is going to arrest him or force him to obey any law or court order.

According to Wikipedia, "in societies with absolute monarchs, the king’s role as the final arbiter of law was often based on the doctrine of the divine right of kings. This political and religious doctrine asserted that a monarch's authority to rule came directly from God, making them unaccountable to any earthly authority." So is Donald Trump now operatig by divine right?

Here below is what appears on Google, just written words that Mr. Trump may choose to igrnore.

  • Foundation of Society:
The "rule of law" is a principle that ensures everyone, including the government, is accountable under the law.

Back in February 2025, after ending New York City's congestion pricing program, Trump posted "LONG LIVE THE KING!" on his Truth Social account, a reference that was also shared by official White House social media accounts. Some supporters shared imagery depicting Trump with a crown, further embracing the comparison.

NY Times, Trump Sues The New York Times for Articles Questioning His Success

A newspaper has no business whatsoever questioning Donald Trump, king of the world, and he hopes to make the paper pay for downplaying his success as president.

The Hill, Trump approval drops to record low of second term: Poll

Never having quite achieved the support of a majority of voters, now polls show Mr. Trump enjoys approval from only 39% of voters, while a majority, 57%, now disapprove.

The National Guard is still on duty back in Washington, DC.

After three decades in California, Narciso Barranco was arrested by agents while weeding outside an IHOP, stirring outrage and a fight to stop his deportation. Here he is below in the home he shares with his American-born wife.

A recent funding request from Amnesty International is a reminder that in the dismal swamps of Florida, Alligator  Alcatraz, a favorite Trump detention site, many long-time US residents are being held pending their deportation. If we didn't need those folks here in the first place, they wouldn't be here right now. Our country simply doesn't have enough people of working age to fill available jobs and support oldsters like me.

The anti-immigrant bias of some Trump supporters is not shared by a majority of Americans. Nor has a good way to process new immigrants ever been developed, despite the welcoming lamp being held aloft by Lady Liberty.

Wash. Post, Gaza City’s communications cut as Israel’s ground invasion enters second day

Palestinians are now leaving Gaza, as Israel is apparently forcing them out so Israelis can take over
the territory. Isn't this a frank case of "ethnic cleansing"? Trump is supporting Netanyahu's racist             policies 100%, as well as providing the funds needed to carry them out (with our tax dollars). Israel's
once heroic image has been irrevocably tarnished.

Aug 25, 2025 — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called an airstrike on a Gaza hospital that killed 20 people, including five journalists, a "tragic mishap".

Wash. Post, U.N. commission finds that Israel committed genocide in Gaza

Do Benjamin Netanyahu and Donald Trump really care about a UN commission's findings? Or about
Israel's "tragic mishap" that killed doctors, patients, and journalists in Gaza?

Here below is an auto ad, quite awkwardly rendered in Spanish,

 showing that much more imaginative

translators are needed, not just translating word-for-word.
(I myself worked for years part-time in my retiurement as a Spanish translator and interpreter),

Potencia para carga pesada combinada con esfuerzo estadounidense

What do Spanish speakers think of that effort? Pretty lame, I would say.
