Vanished blog posting

Well, folks. a complete blog posting that was here this morning has completely disappeared. I simply cannot find it. I had showed it to my son who remembers seeing it. The blog deities have nothing more to say about just wantonly taking whatever liberties they desire without offering any explanation whatsoever.

I told this to a former neighbor who had tried to help by finding my earlier blog but not the missing posting:

Many thanks for your valient efforts, but I've not lost access to that previous blog, just had been unable to continue there a few years ago. Then I started version 2.  So that is not what I am looking for now. My whole blog posting of today, including photos received from friends in Honduras, which my son also saw this morning, has totally vanished. It is all simply no longer here, gone, poof! In the broad scheme of things, considering that we all live only a finite life and will all soon vanish from this earth as sentient beings, then my losing one day's posting is not a tragedy, as another day will surely follow unless a meteor from outer space suddenly wipes out our lowly planet earth forever. If that happens, the universe will just continue on without us and no trace of our existence may ever remain.

I know that something featured on that lost posting were photos received from friends in Honduras about their son's birthday, so let's start again there. I assume those photos were not the reason for the complete disappearance of my posting. Perhaps I need to go back to the tedious practice of copying the blog posting temporarily as a document, before copying and posting it then on this blog.

But that's really too much trouble. The blog is more like a spontaneous current email communcation, nothing fancy. If it should disappear again, I'll just skip over to the very next day.

When the posting vanished, I had just posted these photos below of Oliver's 8th birthday in Honduras. Named for Oliver Cromwell, an Englishman who died in 1658, this young boy is probably the only Oliver now living in all of Honduras.

A Spanish galleon called San Jose sank in the Caribbean in 1708 after an attack by an English fleet,  If any of its treasures
can be recoveed, to whom will they belong?  The original owners died centuries ago, perhaps sent to a watery grave.

Here are some items recovered from that lost ship.

Yahoo News, Donald Trump may have cleared the high bar of uttering the most appalling remark of his presidency on Tuesday. “Things happen,” the leader of the free world said with a shrug when asked about the assassination of American-based journalist Jamal Khashoggi while seated next to the man who ordered the murder, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Trump has said that he is aiming for a new title" President for life." Does he mean that he wants to remain our president for as long as he lives? (We might even have a situation like that when the late Hugo Chavez in Venezuela was being propped up as a corpse to show his leadership.)

Trump accuses Democrats of Sedition "punishable by Death" for suggesting military don't have to obey "unlawful orders."

Students and teachers were taken captive from a Catholic school in the latest in a wave of such attacks in the country.

In Africa, as I discovered on my travels there, those relatively few students who contiue their education after completing primary grades locally, then go on to boarding schools away from home. There girls are often abducted while sleeping at the school at night.

And now on to other friends in remote, faraway Bhutan.

Here's my message below to friends in Bhutan who have invited me to visit them there, though I'm unlikely to ever actually go, as I am now 87 with an expired passport and no extra cash for any more travels outside the US. I did once host a visitor from Bhutan at my former home in Washington, DC. I've now just told my Bhutanese friends:

You can find some photos of me on my blog. honduraspeacecorps2.blogspot.com

I am now age 87 and not planning to travel much any more, maybe only within this country from now on..

As I may have already indicated, I am not a supporter of Donald Trump, though my son, with whom I am living now, voted for him. We never talk politics between us.

Flags here were at half-staff today [Nov. 20] marking the funeral and burial of former Vice President Dick Cheney.
Former Presidents Barack Obama and GW Bush attended his funeral, but not the current president Donald Trump nor his vice president JD Vance.

I hope we here in the US and people all over the world will survive Trump's presidency.

Below is her reply:
aunty, greetings from Bhutan. I am doing well , currently, I have taken Extra ordinary leave for two years. i am  taking care of my parents who are nearly the same age as you. My dad is 89 years old and mum is 88 years. We are in a village.  i will keep in touch.

[It's amazing how I can communicate with her now via the internet. I remember the days when that was not possible.]

Here's still another recent interpretation request for Spanish which I am unable to accept, especially now while living out here in rural West Virginia.
