Cold and colder, crazy and crazier

Perhaps frigid weather is affecting our computer systems out here in the West Virigina countryside. At least, my previous blog posting just stopped suddenly and refused to proceed. So am starting over here now and let's see how far we go,.

Yes, it's pretty darn cold outside these days.. Our dog even seems reluctant to go out. Tonight (Jan. 20), the forecast here is for a low of 9* F. Brrrr! 

Next day (today, Wed, Jan 21): Isolated Snow Showers, High near 38°F, Low around 33°F.

Trump links Greenland push to Nobel Peace Prize slight

In President Trump’s letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, the president elaborated on his motives for acquiring Greenland.

In the letter, Trump questioned why Denmark has a “right of ownership” over the semi-sovereign territory. He also cited the Norwegian Nobel Committee in not awarding him the Nobel Peace Prize last year as to why he is not interested in peace.

“Dear Jonas: Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace."

Of course, Denmark and Norway are allies, but are now separate nations. They had once been joined, but that was over 200 years ago  So why try to punish Norway these days about the Nobel decision by trying to take over a Danish territory? Does Donald Trump even know this history? Probably not. 

One of my readers points out: "Greenland is tied to Denmark, not Norway.  so the story behind Trump’s rants can go off track if the distinction is not bridged.  I've not spent time to decipher his rhetoric, tho’ you can understand that it can get complicated.  Furthermore, Sweden is lucky it’s not been pulled into this madness because Albert Nobel was a Swede, and except for the Peace Prize, the other honors are presented in Stockholm.

Thanks or no thanks to Donald Trump and RFK Jr., measles will now sicken and kill many children,  quite unnecessarily. When I was a child, there was no measles vaccine, so we suffered through the illness under quarantine and thankfully survived, but many children then did not. And some who lived suffered lifelong disabilities. But now a measles vaccine can prevent the illness and prevent it from spreading, but Trump and RFK Jr. are not really promoting vaccination. RFK Jr., while somewhat tepidly supporting vaccination, is emphsizing its rare complications. He is taking us back now to the days when vaccines were unavailable.

Calls to invoke 25th Amendment grow as Trump tries to acquire Greenland. How does

 it work, and has it been used before?

Maybe we won't need to wait 3 more years after all. 

A growing number of lawmakers are calling for the 25th Amendment to be invoked to 

remove President Trump from office after Trump told Norway’s prime minister that his 

position on purchasing Greenland is tied to not winning the Nobel Peace Prize and he no 

longer feels obligated to “think purely of Peace.”

Maybe Mr. Trump is getting scared, as he is now backtraking on some threats. But let's try 

to get him out of office now anyway, as he's been there long enough.

A family member just sent me this message:

Trump is an idiot, a greedy egotistical ass!!!  I don't understand how all these people fall behind him and don't 

challenge him and all that he's doing, going against their own principles and constituents. It's scary to see 

what he does next. He's definitely challenging the limits of presidential power. He cheated to install himself back 

in the White House. He has NO clue about how to run a country. It's all about $$ for himself and how much he can 

use to line his own and his family's pockets. We in the US are a complete embarrassment to the entire world!
