Trump still wants Greenland, also Venezuelan oil, and, of course, a Nobel.

It's not enough to be President of the United States, Donald Trump always wants more.

                            In January 2026, Donald Trump again visited Greenland.

Greenlandic prime minister: ‘We choose Denmark. We choose NATO’

Wife Melania and Trump's offspring have not weighed in on the Greenland issue, which has become an obsession for Donald Trump, along with his quest for Venezuelan oil  and the Nobel Peace Prize, He;d also like to have his visage carved on Mt. Rushmore, where there is really no more room for it.  Somehow a Korean crown replica and an Israel medal have not done it for Mr. Trump. And the Nobel committee would not allow Venezuela's 2025 winner María Corina Machado to bestow her Peace prize on him.

Donald Trump still wants Greenland, but he also really wants Venezuelan oil. His attention has mostly been veering between Greenland and Venezuela. So he has been dozing off less often these days.

      Donald Trump often points to his head to make a point. Some have speculated that he is                             emphasizing that he has a good brain in there somewhere.

Donald Trump has asked Minnesotans if they "really want to live in a community in which their [sic] are thousands of already convicted murderers, drug dealers and addicts, rapists, violent released and escaped prisoners, dangerous people from foreign mental institutions and insane asylums, and other deadly criminals too dangerous to even mention?" (Good grief, what community is that?!}

María Machado met with Pope Leo in Rome. She is now running for Venezuela's presidency against another woman, Delcy Rodríguez.

As for Donald Trump's popularity here in the USA, the most recent Gallup poll surveyed 1,016 adults and showed a +23 increase in disapproval for Donald Trump with a 36% approval rating and a 59% disapproval rating.

I just received the message below from Alex, my former visitor from Costa Rica, with whom I always spoke English to help him learn. He now lives in Barcelona in Spain and has a PhD. He says he often uses English with colleagues there.

I've always enjoyed being in Barcelona, an international city where many languages are sproken. The local language, Catalan, has similarities to both Spanish and French, quite appropriate as it links France and Spain. Here are 2 common phases: "Bon dia" (Good day) and "Merci" (Thank you)

Here is what Alex had to say.

Thank you very much, dear Barbara.

That time with you all helped me learn more English. And now it’s very useful to me because at the university I have classmates from all over the world and we always speak in English. I’m very sorry about the situation that is being lived in the United States today. You have a very beautiful country, but today I wouldn’t feel happy being there—mainly because of the lack of safety and the enormous violence of ICE.

On the other hand, if you want to come to Barcelona, you can stay at my place. I have a guest room and it would make me very happy to see you again. Thank you very much for sharing your photo. You look very happy.

I don’t have a girlfriend right now haha, but one will come along in the future.

A hug, Alex
