The 18-month-old is now recovering. He had fallen into the family's backyard pool in Arizona and had been declared dead by a doctor, The family found him in the morgue, still breathing. Whew!

Student Pilot Forced to Land Plane After Instructor Jumps Out Mid-Flight

In Argentina, a student pilot was shocked when her flight instructor jumped out of the plane, plunging to his death. But she was able to land the aircraft safely, though thoroughly shaken. 

Stories like this remind me of the death of my own paternal grandfather, also a flight instructor. 

Granddad was killed before World War I, back in the infancy of flight, when his student froze at the wheel, causing their aircraft to crash. The student survived to tell the tale, but my grandfather did not. The plane had been uninsured, with all their family's savings tied up in it. So my grandmother, the yougest of 12 children of an Alberta farming family, and herself the mother of 2 boys including my Dad, then went to work altering clothing for Sears Roebuck customers. Although the family had been living in Calgary, Alberta, where my father was born, they then stayed on in California, where the crash had occurred. Near the end of her life, Grandma, who was very good-looking, married a wealthy man and inherited his southern California estate after his death. She stayed there until her own death, living in financial comfort at long last.

Reader, do you have a pet?

I like to pet a cat, feeling its soft fluffy fur under my fingers. But I am allergic to cats and soon start coughing and sneezing, 

Fortunately I am not allergic to dogs, like our dog Willow (seen below). We always had pet dogs when my kids were growing up and I never had a problem around dogs. One of our dogs even had 8 throrughbred puppies. That was quite an experience, never to be repeated.
