Trump really wants Greenland!

 

Donald Trump really, really wants Greenland, a Danish territory, and he wants it now! If he cannot make a deal soon with Denmark, he may just take it anyway. 

The entire population of Greenland is about 55,000, living there now in an inhospitable climate which never really warms up, never even rises above freezing in some places, not even in summer. Most inhabitants are indigenous folks who enagage in hunting and fishing. Their language, Greenlandic, is an Inuit language of the Eskimoan branch. Greenlanders have much in common with the native people of Alaska. 

Trump actively discussing potentially buying Greenland, White House says

Denmark thought Trump was just joking when he expressed an interest in acquiring Greenland, but he is still pursuing the idea. I wonder what the native people of that sparsely populated island actually think about that? 

Like other European nations, Denmark has given up most overseas colonies. Besides Greenland, it still possesses the Faroe Islands in the north Atlantic, which together with Greenland are all that's left of its former worldwide dominion. Denmark's colonies were first acquired over 100 years ago, in the golden age of European conquest and adventurism.  Denmark might, in fact, now be ready to give up Greenland for the right price, though there is considerable resistance both on the island and in Denmark. Why Donald Trump actually wants it is unclear, but he is doggedly pursuing the idea and won't take "no" for an answer.

Meanwhile, my friend Alex from Costa Rica, who once spent a summer in my DC home, is now a post-doctoral fellow in Barcelona. While he was staying with me, we only spoke English, which he was trying to learn. He has just now sent me his photo while displaying a recent award. Felicitaciones, congratulations Dr. Alex! We had quite a lot of fun together when he was at my place, experiencing a minor upset only when his girlfriend visited from Spain, choosing then to break up with him during her visit. She said after seeing him once again, she'd decided that he wasn't good looking enough to become the father of her future children. Was she so beautiful herself? Not as attractive as Alex in my opinion. So he is way better off without her! Has she even had any kids since? By now, she is in her late 30's, approaching her final deadline for motherhood.

Donald Trump is only one of a kind and thank goodness for that!

Trump may not be joking when he muses about runnung for a 3rd term, so let's not count the guy out. Not at the top of the ticket next time, but as vice president, something that the Republican Party could hardly refuse. Trump as vice president might not really help to get the presidential candidate elected. But if elected, then VP Trump would continue mucking things up for whoever would have actually won the presidency. 

Does Donald Trump always tell the truth? Does he usually keep his word? You already know the answer.

Yes, the whole idea of Trump running as vice president is really too much! Voters like me really, really, really want to see him gone, gone, gone! No more Donald Trump in politics or even in the news; rather, just have him follow the example of GW Bush by taking up a quiet hobby. Or simply go out golfing every single day! But please, Donald, stay out of politics because you've already mucked up this country, as well ss the whole world, more than enough! 

How long is this thorn in our collective side actually likely to live? Trump's demise might be the only thing that finally shuts him up. Will I ever live long enough myself to see that day? I'm quite a few years older.

Folks in Minnesota have started pushing back against Donald Trump rather forcefully now.

Yahoo News, The chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) lashed out at President Trump after he claimed that he had won election in Minnesota “all three times.”

“You lying piece of s‑‑‑,” Ken Martin posted on social platform X. “I chaired the Minnesota DFL for all three of your runs here. I watched you lose. Three times,” he said. "You know, remarks that Kristi Noem made, that this woman [killed by an ICE agent] was a domestic terrorist. I mean, it‘s ridiculous...she was just an ordinary woman ,,,with a 6-year-old kid in an SUV. I mean, the domestic terrorists are ICE,”

Folks have been talking now about the glittery pantsuit worn by Erika Kirk on her speaking tour. She has said that she is expecting the couple's 3rd child (which doesn't really show as yet.)

The east wing of the White House has now been totally demolished, but plans there keep changing. So will construction be completed before the end of Trump's term? No other president would want to inherit that project. 

There are just way too many guns now in circulation in this country, even in the hands of law enforcement. It's much too easy to be trigger-happy while holding a gun. The woman shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in Minneapolis on Wednesday has been identified as Renee Nicole Good. She was a 37-year-old mother of three and a U.S. citizen. On Good's Instagram account, she described herself as a "poet and writer and wife and mom." Three shots were fired at Good's vehicle. One hit her in the head. 

What will the new year bring? We're starting to find out.
