Hello. Before I start this post, dear readers, please remember that what I put on the page is not always what comes out for you. The blog may show up differently for different readers depending on their own computer system. What comes up may also depend on the weather or time of day when the blog is posted. So, readers, thank you for your flexibility. I'm just trying to communicate with all of you at once and do appeciate the email replies that some folks have sent me. A former DC neighbor, still living on Capitol Hill, has sent me a message applicable to

a move, a new job, retirement, or a health problem. She says:, "You have the best of two worlds! Enjoy the memories of your time in DC and Honduras, and live well in your new environment. You have fond memories from earlier times, eras. and there will be new ones, as you adapt. One of Buddhism's core sayings is that ‘all life is changing.’ You not only adapted after your life was altered by your husband, but you went on w/ gusto, determination, and savvy and kept your family together and thrived w/ new beginnings, so rejoice. -- feel good about that, and continue to feel good, well, and proud of yourself. You’re still you, just in another environment!"

Spring has arrived!
Now in the spring on our morning drive, the tress are all starting to leaf out with tender pale leaves. Some trees and bushes have white or yellow flowers, others, the lavender flowers of redbud.
I am very fond of tulips of all colors. White tulips are actually white, but black tulips are a very dark shade of purple. The dark tulips below are called "Queen of the Night."

Our dog Willow seemed curious about a statue on display in a Maryland park.
My daughter Steph has found this photo below of me with my late ex-husband and our first child, baby Andrew, for whom my grandson Andrew is now named. I was about age 30 in that photo. That first son, Andrew, was named for my own paternal grandfather who was killed in the crash of an early plane that he had built himself. Son Andrew also died tragically before his time, but his name lives on now with my grandson Andrew, a medical student and a future doctor.

Here's another photo of me with a new hairdo holding baby Andrew (the son I have lost).
Hurray! The Artemis crew has come back safely.
AP Exclusive: Trump administration admits a glaring error in its New York health fraud accusations
The short version is that the Trump administration now admits to making a major error in accusing New York state of Medicaid fraud. Yes, Trump and Co. desperately wanted to nail a Democratically-led state for Medicaid fraud, but the fraud, if any, was actually concocted by the Trump administration whose own shameful effort has backfired spectacularly. The fraudsters actually turned out to be Donald Trump and his minions, not the state of New York, after all.

The Civilization Trump Destroys May Be Our Own
Friday afternoon, Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) sent a letter formally requesting Capt. Sean P. Barbabella, Physician to the President, to “conduct a comprehensive neuropsychological assessment” of Trump and send the results to Congress. In the letter, Raskin mentioned multiple examples of recent “incoherent, volatile, profane, deranged, and threatening” comments made by Trump that he argued exhibited what experts said were “signs consistent with dementia and cognitive decline.”

Vice President JD Vance met with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Saturday. (Reuters) (Unlike Trump, Vance does not show any signs of dementia.)
And now what about Kamala?
Wouldn't it be a great relief to have an intelligent, thoughtful US president for a change? If Kamala Harris should run again, let's hope she makes it next time, after barely missing last time around. Even many Republican voters are getting pretty fed-up with the slap-dash, impulsivity of Donald Trump and Co., now bringing our country to the brink of World War III.

Immigration has been a big issue for Donald Trump. He doesn't like it.
According to Google, the Trump immigration plan, now that Trump's mother and his wife Melania have made it here safely, is to just keep everyone else out, except perhaps for Musk's white South African pals. The fact that our country is not producing enough children and has insufficient workers to support us old folks is irrelevant because Trump doesn't want any more newcomers. He doesn't like them. Forget about the Statue of Liberty and welcoming strangers. The US is now closed.
The Trump administration’s 2025–2026 legal immigration policy focuses on reducing legal immigration by 33% to 50%. Key measures include expanded travel bans on dozens of countries, pausing visa processing for specific nationalities, implementing "extreme vetting," restricting asylum, and attempting to end birthright citizenship.
Not only is the Trump administration keeping people out, but it wants especially to make sure no pregnant women or even women who might actually become pregnant arrive. Isn't that how Melania, who came on a temporary visa, got to stay, by getting pregnant by Donald Trump? In an internal email sent Thursday and reviewed by Reuters, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement ordered investigative agents around the country to focus on a new “Birth Tourism Initiative.” The operation will seek to root out networks that help pregnant foreign nationals come to the U.S. to give birth here so their children can receive citizenship, it said. Below we see a young Donald, looking quite inncocent at that age, whose own mother arrived from here from Scotland before giving birth to him.
And what about foreign wildlife migrating here from somewhere else? Do we also need to keep them out? That would be quite a challenge.
An eagle just seen here locally rests on a tree branch. Where did it come from?
And do any penguins need to be deported? Those seen in zoos probably were not born here.
Emperor penguins have now been declared endangered.

Exclusive: Four women describe sexual misconduct by Rep. Eric Swalwell, including a former staffer who says he raped her
Having 4 women come forward with claims of rape against this Democratic candidate for California governor makes their allegations that much more credible. Perhaps the accused, Congressman Eric Swalwell, did not consider what he did was rape, while the women may have been drinking and really did not give full consent. He was apparently quite a Casanova, or possibly a sex addict, seeking new sexual encounters at every opportunity. Or is that just something being concocted by his political opponents?
When Swalwell was first elected to Congress, evidently no such allegations had been levied against him, coming only now when he is running to become governor of California. But it does seem that his governor quest is doomed in any case and that his congressional career may be over as well. He is apparently on his second marriage and has 3 children with his current wife. As an outsider just reading the news, I have no way to judge either the credibility of these allegations or of Swalwell's vehement denials, as would also be the case for most other observers. Now Swalwell needs to find a new career, preferably outside of politics, because he won't become governor and his political life is likely over. Whether his wife will stay with him remains to be seen.

Until next time.
