On Florida's west coast

Here's the west (Gulf) coast of Florida, on a beach near Ft. Lauderdale, where my older daughter, granddaughter, and great-grandson live. I like it much better there than on the east coast. Am I biased? Evenings after the sun goes down is when it's most comfortable to be outside at this time of year.

My message below was to my older daughter, whom I just saw at the family reunion and celebrations at my great-grandson's high school graduation near Ft. Lauderdale in Florida. All the women celebrating there with their kids were single mothers, just like at CoolFont--the resort where my son works now in West Virginia. Where are all the fathers? Only gay fathers seem most likely to stay with their kids. The oldest males at the family reunion were my 17-year-old great-grandson and his pals. The other fathers were all AWOL. Only mothers with their kids were in attendance there. Humans are getting like many mammals, where the dad only appears to impregnate the mother, then leaves her to care for their offspring alone.

The following is a message that I just sent to my older daughter, the grandmother of the 17-year-old young man whose high school graduation in Florida we were just now celebrating. She lives with him and his mother (her daughter) in a small 2-bedroom apartment, but they all got to spread out at the multi-room graduation rental. I told my older daughter there:

Darling, thank you for the photos--such a good time that we all had. And thanks also for taking such good care of me--I was much happier with you and the other folks at the house where you were staying. after I'd slipped on that bathroom rug in the other rental house. My thigh is still black and blue..Fortunately, at age 88, I didn't break any bones. But now I'm glad to be home again. I am very independent in these familiar surroundings with only the dog here for company, just like right now while son Jon is away at work at CoofFont, the hotel that had burned down but is being rebuilt and opening again soon.

I remember that you were such a smart, agile baby--as you've heard before. You climbed up a whole flight of stairs in our DC house when you were only about 5 months old and when I turned around and screamed your name, you tumbled right back down to the landing below, but didn't seem to be hurt. Soon after, you were climbing up on top of the player piano and you scared me so much, but you weren't afraid of anything. You used to carry around your baby brother who was almost as big as you were. You have been such a great daughter, so I am very proud and glad to be your mother.

Today, locally here  in West Virginia, our high temperature is predicted to reach 75F, just perfect.

Please tell me again the name of your food company and show me some of the products that you sell there locally. That one for $10 was very tasty. You have invented these products and still help prepare them. That's so great!

It's certainly quite true that you had often carried your baby brother, as I said, who wrapped his arms around your neck.

I do worry about your health, but am still not sure what your major health problems are and apparently you have no health coverage at all there in Florida, such a chinzy state. Since I am now age 88 and no longer working, I don't know how I can help you any more than what I've done already. You looked very good when I saw you. You were so active and productive in the kitchen cooking for all those folks! .

Your brother and I live very modestly and he is helping support his 2 sons, one now in medical school. The younger boy is only 11 and lives with his estranged second wife in another state.

I am trying to stay alive for a few more years, but would rather drop dead than have a long decline. Please keep in touch and let me hear from you.
Love always, Mom                                           On Sun, May 24, 2026

The food company that my daughter founded and manages is called Goodness, but only operates in St. Petersburg and Tampa, Florida. She has aways been a wonderfuk cook.

Why Goodness Co.

Too often, healthy food is seen as boring, restrictive, or hard to stick with. We’re here to change that.

At Goodness Co., we make it easy to eat nourishing, thoughtfully prepared meals—without the stress. Whether you’re chasing better energy, balanced hormones, or just want dinner handled—we’ve got you covered.

I especially enjoyed this item, but don't remmeber what it's called. Her company only delivers in the Ft. Lauderdale area.

Goodness Co. Local meal delivery for better energy & balanced hormones. Anti-inflammatory ingredients. Healthy eating made simple.

Here again is my great-grandson, the recent high school graduate.

What's next for him? He is trying to decide. He doesn't plan to go to collage.

Donald Trump has been getting rather frequent health checkups at Walter Reed. So, what's going on?

None of your business, Trump seems to say, when asked about his several recent health checkups,

The message below came from a friend back in DC.

Weather is really crazy this year -- just like our President.

It looks like we might be in for the second biggest Ell Nino on record. I don't know how our current weather is part of it.  But, the high temperature was 94 on Wednesday and is supposed to drop to 59 tonight.

National Guard people continue walking back and forth from the train station to the Armory, passing each way in front of our house. I wonder how they are doing with regard to their regular jobs?

I don't think I am going to get used to a blue bottomed reflecting pool,
