A long-time friend, my former next-door neighbor back in DC, Carol Euston, has just died at age 90. She was a cat lover who always fed neighborhood strays. She was also an interracial marriage pioneer as a Caucasian woman whose husband was African American, tying the knot long before such unions were common. They had moved late in life to a retirement community in Maryland, where I visited them there, and where the husband, Joe Watson, died several years ago.

We all need to keep alert and aware without incentivizing and normalizing such crimes, just as we don't want the Reiner case to incentivize murders of older parents.
