On Sunday, December 21, out on the local castle rooftop, a huge green and orange gargoyle, fashioned of a colorful almost translucent material, was up there once again, just flapping its wings in the early morning breeze. That indicated that castle residents are back in town for Christmas. But I'll say no more nor will I try to actually post an image--not even just a simple sketch--of that diaphanous, almost floating, rooftop creature. Nothing more on that now, as I've said too much already. After my whole blog post crashed last time, I've learned my lesson! Readers look for it yourself on your own systems, as you'll never ever see it here!
We then drove over to CoolFont, part of the hotel complex where my son works. At that early hour, the pond there was still covered with a thin coating of ice now starting to melt in the sun. Wild ducks that used to fish there have all flown south. We let our dog out to run around free as no one else was there yet. It was so very quiet, so very peaceful, with only the sound of wind blowing through the bare trees.
Wash. Post, Trump’s doctrine? ‘Make America Small Again.’
NY Times, Trump Takes America’s ‘Imperial Presidency’ to a New Level
President Trump has expanded executive power while embracing the trappings of royalty in ways not seen in the modern era.
Dr. John Gartner dissects Trump’s frequent boasts about cognitive tests and why his latest White House speech alarms mental health professionals.
The House Speaker warned of “radical left Marxist Democrats dismantling the Republic” and calling on “happy warriors” to emulate Charlie Kirk.
Wash. Post, H-1B workers flew to India to renew U.S. visas. Now they’re stuck.
Once Donald Trump is no longer in office, even if a Republican president should follow, then his increasingly un-presidential, incoherent, puerile, tacky and just plain ridiculous orders, so cavalierly and thoughtlessly issued, must be totally reversed.
Exhibits and all commentary will then have to be revised. No longer will visitors chuckle at the odd and silly Trump wording accompanying so many patriotic exhibits. Can things ever get back to normal? Or has Trump even changed the very meaning of "normal"?
It might be instructive to just leave some things just as Trump has ordered, such as a fireplace trimmed in gold, simply as a historical example of the expression of his personal whims. Also serving as a warning to voters to be more thoughtful about whom they put in office to prevent this particular sort of history from ever being repeated.
Mr. Trump may still remain president for 3 more years, but his mind is obviously now failing, Even his most ardent loyalists seem to be delaying many of his proposals until he thankfully will be gone. The ballroom project is one that should definitely be put on hold. Even Trump's diehard supporters are starting to worry now, since so many of his orders are neither coherent nor even do-able. What can be done if a president becomes mentally incompetent while still in office?
Melania has already given up and Trump's offspring have all left the scene. Everyone is just marking time until Donald Trump retires or goes on to the afterlife. All that gold trim can then be removed, the ballroom project abandoned, and the ripped-out foliage replanted. The next president will have to undertake considerable remedial work to restore dignity to the White House and its environs. Trying to follow Trump's various zigs and zags right now is just not feasible. His tenure will prove to be a unique aberration in White House history, something not forgotten, but not to be repeated. That is my optimistic prediction.
