What's coming next? Just stand by.

Alas, alack, Donald Trump is still the US president, acting even goofier than ever. His recent statements are really quite ridiculous, even crazy, but now his antics are becoming rather tiresome and even worrisome. Is he actually OK?
Can we Americans and the rest of the world really endure 3 more years of all this? Do we even have a choice?

President Trump himself seems to be getting pretty tired of the job as well.

Fox, DHS boasts about deportations, calling them 'ICE's Christmas gift to Americans'

Many Americans, including me, strongly disapprove of these wholesale deportations, even of unacompanied children sent over the border by desperate parents, hoping to give them a better life.

No practical method for actually screening new arrivals has ever been developed. Throughout history, people have just traveled to and settled in new places. Not everyone trying to come to the US can be accepted, but not all of them should be kept out either because many are actually needed right here.

Following a rather controversial vote, the President just added his own name to the JFK memorial venue on Dec. 19. Trump has now dubbed it the Trump/Kennedy Center.

Can the Kennedy Center revert back to its previous name after Trump is finally gone?

JFK's Niece Kerry Kennedy Vows to Remove Trump's Name from the Kennedy Center with a 'Pickax'

Kerry Kennedy, daughter of former Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, said she will “grab a pickax” to remove President Trump’s name from the Kennedy Center after Trump’s name was added to the building on Friday.

“Three years and one month from today, I’m going to grab a pickax and pull those letters off that building, but I’m going to need help holding the ladder,” Kerry Kennedy posted on the social platform X. “Are you in? Applying for my carpenter’s card today, so it’ll be a union job!!!”

The fewer reminders being kept of Mr. Trump's unfortunate, tumultuous, and very aggravating tenure, so much the better. Can we ever again go back to "normal'?

Donald J. Trump seems now to be getting rather tired of being preesident himself, often falling alseep at meetings, also showing signs of serious health problems despite official glowing reports. Trump and his adminitration now have significant credibility problems,

JD Vance and Erika Kirk are much younger voices already breathing some new life into the Grand Old Party. Those 2 do seem to offer an improvement over Donald Trump but as a Democrat myself, I'm not sure that I'm really glad to see them gaining credibility.

Who do we Democrats have now? Can Kamala Harris make a comeback to lead our party? She has said that she is not done yet. And what about California Governor Gavin Newsom? He's been making  headway with his "Nodfather" pokes at Mr. Trump, though Trump won't be on the ballot next time.

Erika Kirk has been using her husband's murder to now enter the political fray herself. She is the mother of 2 small children. Here is her family before Charie Kirk's death,

And here is Erika now. She has not spent much time in mourning her husband.

Wash. Post,
Charlie Kirk’s widow endorses Vance as MAGA infighting rages. Erika Kirk told a Turning Point USA conference that she would work to elect JD Vance as president in 2028 at an event in which MAGA divisions were on full display.

Vance, age 41, a Catholic convert and the father of 3 young children, now makes a rather compelling appearance alongside his Hindu wife. Together, they appeal to several different demographics.

At age 87 myself, I really hope to survive until the end of Trump's presidency and even beyond, the better to enjoy life more fully once again. I may regret saying this, but even another Republican would be better than Donald J Trump. Thankfully in his case, he is unique, only one of a kind. I had once thought George W  Bsuh was missing a few marbles, but compared to Trump, he is practically a genius. He even seems fairly harmless, now keeping busy painting colorful portraits of prominet world leaders.

Very likely a war crime was comitted by Pete Hegseth, who apparently ordered the killing of boat strike survivors already rendered helpless by the first strike. So now Republicans and especially probable war criminal Hegseth want to completely close the books on that fatal episode, never to visit that particular issue again .

Now going across the world,

Having fewer guns in circulation simply means fewer gun deaths. That is just a fact. The National Rifle Association has always promoted increased personal gun possession, but that actually is not protective, quite to the contrary  Maybe the NRA has a financial interest in promoting more gun sales? Because, having a gun in the home actually increases the likihood that the gun will kill or injure someone already living there. Nor is a gun protective against intruders because very few thieves now actually enter private homes. Instead, most thefts now occur online. We are no longer living back in the old Wild West..

The danger posed by having a personal firearm in the home was demonstrated to me and my family. as has been recounted previously on these pages. My son, then age 11, was shot in the foot by a gin dropped by a curious friend who'd found it in a neighbor's bedside drawer  That dropped gun went off with the bullet hitting my son in the foot. All his life, that injuy has bothered my son, though fortunately, he wasn't killed.

Here's a winning photo now from the NY Times' photo contest.

                                                               And here's another.
