While out on our screened porch just this morning, I saw a doe walk out of the woods across our yard, followed by both a larger and a much smaller fawn. They couldn't have both been her own fawns, as they were of different sizes, indicating that one was considerably younger, but not enough younger to have been born in a different year. Apparently lactating does do actually adopt orphaned fawns, as possibly in the group of deer that just crossed our yard.
Are these fawns twins or is one actually adopted?
A female deer may be caring for more than one fawn, but human females are becoming less family oriented. The world is now undergoing a definite Malthus-in-reverse phase. It's certainly hard to achieve the right balance. Women everywhere are stopping after having 2 babies, with some even stopping after just one or none. Some countries now offer childbirth incentives and ample benefits which may have slowed the international birthrate decline, but not reversed it. A world population bust is already underway,

People in the US, even all around the world, now know how to prevent having babies while still enjoying sex, so are doing just that. Some may plan to have children "later" but actually never get around to it or may find that they have waited too long.
China no longer has a 1, 2, or 3-child policy, allowing married couples to have as many children as they like, but nearly all are stopping at just 2.

If fewer fiearms are being sold in the US, we are all now much safer. Firearms are dangerous to everyone, including to their owners, as has been amply demonstrated, So maybe Americans have gotten the message, despite gun promotions by the NRA and Trump family members.
(Hint: Trump doesn't think much about it at all.)

Donald Trump really doesn't like the Peace Corps, since it was the idea of Democratic President Jack Kennedy. So Trump has completely slashed Peace Corps funding and recruitment. It's the kind of international enterprise initiated by a Democrat that he wants to completely eradicate, so he's cutting support to the bone and not really promoting it any more. It's not a Trump initiative, after all,
Trump wants history to consider himself to be the greatest president ever since Abraham Lincoln, an assessment he feels he rightly and richly deserves, because he really is so very great. Therefore, he certainly doesn't want to be supporting a Kennedy initiative. His face may never be on Mount Rushmore, he may never get a Nobel Prize, and he may be unable to take possession of Greenland, but he still wants to be remembered! And Donald J. Trump certainly will be remembered as there has never been a US president quite like him. He is just one of a kind, thank goodness!
Yet, if we can get more Democrats elected and maybe even have a Democratic president (preferebly female, as it's high time!), then a popular backlash against Trumpism could revive the Peace Corps once again, barely surviving only on life support.
There is now a backlash against Trumpism in any case, as we've already endured more than enough! Trump has had his chance, in fact, he's had even more chances than a cat has lives. But at this point, he could barely be elected as dog catcher. Trump had avoided the military draft by submitting a phony health report, won election against Hillary while falling thousands of votes short, and managed to weasle out of a rape charge against E. Jean Carroll, even though his own Supreme Court refused to hear his appeal of her financial judgment against him. She just hadn't been interested in him at all
But Trump has yet to pay up. He can certainly afford to pay Carroll, but thinks that might indicate guilt. Still, he is fortunate not to be in prison, "So pay up, deadbeat," the women's signs say. A cat may have 9 lives, but Donald Trump only has one and he needs to get ready to meet his Maker by finally paying what he owes.

The insect being shown below transmits Chagas, a disease common in Latin America. Chagas is a poorly understood illness that can lead to heart failure and other fatal complications. Symptoms may take decades to appear, so that most people with Chagas are unaware they even have the disease. While Chagas predominantly affects those in Latin America, researchers have now discovered locally acquired cases in multiple U.S. states. Researchers estimate 6-7 million people globally have Chagas, including some 300,000 here in the U.S.
Chagas has been mentioned in my books. I have often seen these deadly bugs up close, but fortunately was never bitten by one, so I am still here. They are about the size being shown, living in thatched-roofed dwellings, coming out only at night and falling down on unsuspecting sleepers. When sleeping in a thatched dwelling in Latin America, I've always pulled the sheet up right over my head. Are You Dematerializing?
