Computer wins and woes

Readers may not care to hear about my vexing problems posting this blog, so I won't bore you with the subject--still hoping now to have better luck during the day, In fact, the last posting was not actually uploaded until early this morning. So let's see what happens this time around. I'm going to have to take a break now; will explain later, so amposting this now.

USA Today, Trump approval rating sinks to term low in new poll amid Iran war

Is Marco Rubio planning to run for president? He's found unique ways of calling attention to himself. If California Governor Gavin Newsom decides to run, he will have competition.

And Rubio is bilingual, as I found chatting with him in Spanish and English on a flight from Florida to DC. That may prove an asset if he runs for president. Of course, Donald Trump won the presidency without even speaking grammatical English.

An estimated 100,000+ children have been separated from their parents during the Trump administration's ongoing immigration crackdown. Roughly three-quarters of these children are likely U.S. citizens born in the United States, according to a statistical analysis by the Brookings Institution.

Belgium's Walzin Castle looks like it may fall into the river below. The castle has been reconstructed and renovated numerous times since it was first built in the 10th century by Bishop Theodwin of Liege.
Here now is his bishop's seal.

Spanish archeologists have found papyrus fragments of Homer's Illiad, dating back 1,600 years, buried in the tomb of an Egyptian mummy.

The Illiad, attributed to the ancient Greek poet Homer, describes hostilities surrounding the fall of Troy. Divided into twenty-four books, the IIliad recounts the events of that war, particularly through the character of Achilles.

Remember Achilles' heel?
According to legend, the hero Achilles was dipped into the River Styx as an infant by his mother, which made his entire body invulnerable to harm
. However, because she held him by his heel, the water never touched that spot, leaving it his only point of weakness. He was later killed during the Trojan War when an arrow struck him in that heel.

Writing was first developed around 3400 to 3200 BCE in ancient Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq). The Sumerians of that region created the earliest system, known as cuneiform. It began as a series of simple pictographs pressed into wet clay tablets. Until writing was developed, stories could only be passed down my word-of-mouth.
